Pilates Instructor 

Downtown Petaluma Pilates is looking for a Pilates educator who loves to support their students in healing and learning to join our in-person teaching team.

 

DPP serves our clients by offering Pilates and specializes in helping our people use exercise and body awareness to feel confident in their strong bodies and to serve their purpose in the world. Our in-person studio is currently focused on semi-privates reformer and springboard sessions for up to 4 students and private sessions.

The Pilates Instructor will be responsible for the following shifts, which will consist of privates +and small group reformer classes:

  • Saturdays: 8:50 am-1:00pm

  • Wednesdays: 8:50 am - 1:00 pm 

 

Availability to sub occasionally is a plus

 

In addition to the above shifts, there is room to grow your schedule. 

 

We would love it if you can expand your shifts  to include any of the following, which we will work to fill with private sessions:

  • Mondays: 4 pm -7 pm

  • Tuesdays: 7 am- 12 noon 

  • Thursdays: 2 pm - 7 pm

  • You have a hard time adapting sequences to work with students' injuries and need for modifications

  • Your schedule is in flux, you’re not available for the listed shifts, or you’re unable to make a one-year commitment

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Greet students with confidence, warmth, and eye contact so as to make students feel seen and welcomed

  • Check-in with students about injuries before instructing movement and adapt/offer modifications as needed

  • Teach a safe and intelligent sequence complete with warm-up core work, invite the students to FEEL their bodies so that they become more autonomous in their Pilates practice and offer modifications to increase challenge or provide more support. And are comfortable using all the equipment beyond the reformer including chairs, barrels and springboards.  

  • Safely direct students to change their springs and move their equipment in semi-privates

  • Cue students on how to clean up after themselves so you can leave your teaching room neat and tidy

  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings and in-services, or  watch recordings so you can stay up-to-date on studio protocols and  policies

  • Request subs in a timely manner so we can ensure all our private clients and class students can be served properly

  • Direct students to connect with our studio manager about memberships, any admin, payment, or scheduling tasks
